From Miles Away is the work of prize winning photographer Matt Deakin based in Australia’s North West.
With a passion for adventure and exploring new and remote places, Matt’s work focuses on landscape, nature, travel and aerial photography.
Matt spent over 2 years travelling Australia before moving to Broome after falling in love with the unique, vibrant surroundings and its laid back outdoor lifestyle. The combination of these things and his passion for creativity led him down the path of landscape photography, and in June 2013 he started @from.miles.away to document his surroundings and share them with the social media world.
The page quickly started to gain momentum as Matt set about documenting every day as a photographic diary, resulting in collaborations with the local, state and national tourism bodies for campaign launches and promotion of the North-West region.
Now, almost 4 years later, Matt is more passionate than ever about showcasing the region he now proudly calls home and From Miles Away has become the most popular individual Instagram page in Australia’s North-West, extending its influence to other social media platforms including, Facebook, Twitter and 500px.
“Its every landscape photographers dream to see and photograph new places, and although I intend to travel more in the future, my heart currently resides here in Broome where im far from finished trying to showcase this little town and its surroundings from every possible angle.”
